I don’t watch the show but it has been reported in the media that the local version of Big Brother has hit a new low. The father of one of the house members has died and been buried but the woman hasn’t been informed of his death yet and all the program management will say is that they are abiding by her father’s wish that she not be told until she leaves the house. This is bizarre and totally obscene. Are they planning to tell her on national television, filming her reaction for the gratification of the morons who watch this type of show. I’m not sure even the host of the show, Gretel Killeen would be that insensitive. But then maybe not, I wonder that she has stuck with this moronic show for so long.

So Mr Howard wants to be remembered for the improvements he made in Education. I think not, after reading my favourite economist’s piece this morning –

In The Age one ofthe writers who was also addressing the issue included a link to that great piece written by Shane Moloney a few years ago about his speech to the students of Scotch College, one of the most privileged schools –

It certainly cut to the truth of the matter. I would have loved to have seen the expression on the faces of the little pampered darlings when told the truth.
