I liked Cook’s cartoon of the young Rudd –
God I hope he wasn’t like that as a child. *g*
Views on the ascendency of PM Kev

I really feel that Catherine Deveny in The Age this morning expressed my feelings over the election –
It’s time to get to know PM Kev
and from a different and more considered and less emotional POV, I quite liked my favourite economist, Ross Gittins’ piece in the Sydney Morning Herald –
A Vote for Honesty and Decency
Oh dear, Annabel Crabb makes Kev out to be a strict headmaster indeed, demanding homework from his Parliamentary colleagues –
God Kevin is a dag!

A nice dag it seems but really. I had to giggle when it was reported that he said after his victory –
CLAIMING victory on Saturday night, Prime Minister-elect Kevin Rudd gave his fledgling government time for a strong cup of tea — and maybe an iced Vo Vo — but said after that it would be down to business.
As for those former Government Ministers – Costello & Vaile who have suddenly re-discovered the joys of family life now that they are due to park their backsides on the Opposition benches and decided to resign their positions in the party and retreat to the back bench, I only have contempt. Presumably the retreat to the backbench gives them more time to work out a lucrative exit strategy from Parliament in a few months time. Well you have to strike while the iron is hot to get those lucrative board appointments and sinecures on offer from your old mates in private industry. They’ll soon forget you once they have a new set of Ministers to toady up to. I wonder if the joys of family life would have been so obvious if they were still in government?

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!

The Rodent and his party have been defeated and the Rodent may lose his own seat!
And we will have a PM called Kevin!
Just watched the Howard farewell speech and am waiting for Kev’s speech.
A really good night!
