Poor Knut

Is the pin-up bear cub of 2007 really got mental problems? It seems so from this story –

Addicted to love: Knut hogs the limelight

I’m not sure the guy who is doing all the talking is right. What did they expect Knut to do? His closest companions have been people and so isn’t it normal for him to want to see or be with people? Knut is never going to be released to the wild, so it would seem rather unkind to deprive him of human contact so that he becomes a “normal” bear. He will never be that. Perhaps if they introduce a female a few years down the track it might redirect his interest to bears rather than humans.  I’m not sure that it would be crueller to send him to an animal park and get him used to being a lone bear as would be the case in the wild. But he is not in the wild and it is the hunt for food that keeps a wild animal busy while Knut is fed and does not have to do that and he is an intelligent animal and needs stimulation and probably human contact to be happy. Humans have created the problem so aren’t there ways of providing stimulation for him, like things to play with, hiding food around his enclosure so he has to find it and other things to stop him being bored.

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don’t understand our partner’s requirements, or even our own. We all have a “love tank” that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.
