Eughhh! God I hate summer colds. They are worse than winter ones. The last thing I need on hot muggy nights is a fever, I’m already hot and sweaty enough without that.

I think I need a Maturin consultation but I’d be worried what effect that would have on

who is currently feeling somewhat possessive of the man. *g* So I’ll just check with my GP if it gets worse.

I met Liz at the Chinese Gardens at Darling Harbour. I remember visiting it when it was first opened and it looked a bit bare then but now that all the trees have grown it is a lovely, calm, peaceful spot in the city.

From there went for lunch in the arcade at Darling Harbour and went to take pictures of HMB Endeavour and then walked down to Circular Quay to catch the ferry across to Manly to visit the ocean beach there and came back and gave Liz a mini-tour of the most historical and important official buildings in Sydney. I hope she enjoyed her day.

I’m sitting at home relaxing after a very enjoyable day. Met Liz or rather located Liz by mobile phone message in Hyde Park. We had lunch in the park and walked around down towards Mrs Macquarie’s chair, rubbernecking at RC’s apartment and then down into the Botanical Gardens to view the bat colony and then off to the Opera House and from there to Darling Harbour to visit the Aquarium. The first tank held two platypusses (or is that platypi?) who were having a lovely time and it was an interesting afternoon.

I’m feeling rather footsore. Will meet up with Liz tomorrow afternoon.

I liked Michael Leunig’s Australia Day article in this morning’s paper –

Our Flagging Enthusiasm

Hopefully all that faux nationalism and ra-ra patriotism that Howard and his cultural war-lords wanted to induce in Australians these last few years will abate.

Boxes of books

I was good on the weekend and other than doing the laundry on Saturday and some grocery shopping on Sunday, slept and rested for most of the weekend.  I feel much better as that awful burning acid pain in both my hands and feet has gone and I feel looser, less tight or something. I felt the difference by Saturday morning. I also slept for more than four hours in a row which has been a record for me. I haven’t managed that for more than a year. I don’t think my body has felt this relaxed for years, the tightness in my shoulders and neck is not all gone but it seems better too. I went back to the GP’s today to have the old blood pressure checked. It has dropped down to 153 over something, still not good but not in stroke territory and she seemed reasonably happy and so I’ll see her in a few weeks time for my regular injection, when hopefully the bp will have fallen further as the medication has time to do its job.

Oh and to add to the happiness have received my Amazon orders –

Mother Clap’s Mollly House, the Gay Subculture in England 1700-1830

and last but certainly not least –
